Pringle v. Florida Hospital et al. (Orlando, FL 2005)

Don Russo, P.A. achieves $13.5 million dollar settlement with hospital and maternal fetal specialists for severe brain injuries suffered by an unborn baby during pregnancy. Don Russo was able to demonstrate a failure on the part of the maternal fetal physicians to follow the fetus with ultrasonography, a procedure that would have detected blood clots in the placenta and prevented brain injury to the baby. The alleged negligence of failure to monitor with ultrasonography had never been litigated in Florida prior to this case.

Curtis Smallwood et al. v. Collier Enterprises et al. (Naples, FL 2005)

Don Russo, P.A. achieves confidential settlement on behalf of 65 clients with Collier Corporation in a case involving alleged sickness caused by a 3000-gallon chemical spill at a creosote treatment plant in the 1950's. Don Russo alleged that the spill of creosote (a chemical used to waterproof telephone poles) migrated into the drinking water supply of a small town of residents in Jerome, FL, causing cancer and other illnesses. Don Russo, P.A. employed world experts in toxicology, hydrology, chemistry, and epidemiology to conduct extensive scientific testing which was used to help prove the underground and surface migration of the chemical.

Villari v. Brody (Miami, FL 2005)

Don Russo, P.A., reaches a $750,000 settlement for widow of 82 year-old civic leader who was killed in a car accident by a negligent driver.

Maseda v. Baptist Hospital (Miami, FL 2006)

Don Russo, P.A. settles medical negligence case for widow against hospital and doctors for $1.1 million dollars for the wrongful death of her husband caused by mis-diagnosis of a heart condition.

Xiong Lee et al. v. Voyagaire Houseboats (International Falls, MN 2006)

Don Russo, P.A. settles multi-million dollar claim for his clients who suffered brain injury caused by exposure to carbon monoxide leaking from a faulty houseboat generator. After successfully winning an insurance coverage appeal that went before the Minnesota Supreme Court, Don Russo was able to force a favorable settlement for his clients by using leading marine experts to show that the defendants had used a faulty generator and had failed to provide warnings of the dangers of carbon monoxide.

Ingraham v. City Gas (Miami, FL 2006)

Don Russo, P.A. reaches settlement for a woman who was chronically exposed to carbon monoxide for over a year in her home. Even without blood gas levels, MRI evidence, or carbon monoxide readings in the house, Don Russo was able to prove through neurologic and neuropsychological evidence that his client had suffered permanent brain damage caused by the defendant's failure to inspect a leaking water heater vent that had become disconnected.

CARBON MONOXIDE CASE SETTLED
$30 million awarded to 7 in apartments

Miami -  Seven people who suffered brain damage after moving into or visiting the Terra Cotta Place Apartments will collect more than $30 million from complex owners and managers for failure to fix a water heater that was leaking carbon monoxide.

Don Russo, attorney for the seven people, praised the speed of the settlement reached Friday following three days of negotiations between a handful of insurance companies.

SETTLEMENT REACHED IN GAS POISONING CASE
Complex to give 7 tenants $29.6 million

Seven people who suffered brain damage from carbon monoxide poisoning in a Northwest Miami-Dade apartment building have reached a $29.6 million settlement with the owner and insurers of the complex, both sides' attorneys said Friday.

"It was a wonderful, emotional release for these people that they were able to settle for so much money," said the plaintiffs' attorney, Don Russo.
